Looking in my Control Panel, I am on Version 8 Update 25 (build 1.8.025-b18) and it worked. It seems to work, though I didn't actually randomize a rom and test to see that it did. That black box is the command prompt, and maybe manually doing it will work: Edit 2: I guess I did already have Java put on.
Edit: And you may wish to do as said in this reply. I'll download the randomizer linked in the OP, and I'll give it a go. I've always wanted to play a randomized Pokemon game, but I've never been able to! Only thing that comes to mind is if you restarted your computer after installing java. I tried Googling it, but literally every tutorial I've seen just says 'double-click the jar' Does anybody have any idea what's happening, or how I can fix this? (Although the first time I ran it, it did show some text before disappearing too quickly to read any of it.) I'm on Windows 10, but I've tried the randomizer before on Vista and Windows 7, and got the exact same result. When I open it with Java, the only thing that happens is a black CMD box shows up for a split second, then disappears immediately without showing any text. The options were 'Java(TM) Platform SE binary' and WinRAR, along with a bunch of other programs like Internet Explorer and Notepad. Once I had it extracted, I found that I was completely unable to open the file! When I first opened the.jar, it asked me what program I wanted to use for it. Hey, I wanted to play some randomized Pokeymans, so I downloaded randomizer.
